Hard luggle advice/opinions required

Hi guys,

I need to get some hard luggage in the next 2 weeks for my XTR. I need to be able to pack a lot of kit daily on the bike and need something lockable for security.

Looking around I've seen the GIVI systems which cost 370 for the Tube frame and E41 side boxes. Having a black bike, these would look good but then I saw the options for Aluminium boxes and frames from Touratech, OfftheRoad and SW Motech - cost from 450 to 600.

Does anyone have any knowledge they can share on this matter. I would like to explore all the avenues before splashing out this much cash and advice is always welcome. Looking to know your experiences with them, how easy they are to fit, weight allowances etc.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Cant give you any in depth info bud, but I can say that Givi are top dollar! I have the 42litre top case which prevented the exhaust/rear end getting scuffed when the bike stand gave on a dodgy paving slab :icon_evil: got away with just the bar end getting slightly scratched :smirk:

I saw some stuff by Metal Mule at the bike show, they where aluminium and seemed pretty good. http://www.metalmule.com/

Thanks for the reply

Just looked at the Metal Mule website, they want about 750 for 2 boxes and a side rack. Although they are cool looking and definately trick, I think my wallet dictates I go for the GIVI option.

I found some Kappa boxes (offshoot company of Givi and made in same factory) for 199 (40l each) and the rack for 90 = 290 for 80l of space.

Also, as I already have the Givi top box and rack, using the Metal Mule one or another make, I assume the mounting points are the same. So if I use the metal mule I won't be able to use my current top box!

I'll phone around for delivery options tomorrow and get back to you with an update. Still, any info on the Givi system would be appreciated.

Matt
