I am also planning to get one, somehow I cannot imagine other way to lubricate chain easily and properly - do you?. It will be "back to the roots" thing for me, on FJR didn't have that issue ;)

When I registered as the new owner of my Tenere with Yamaha they very kindly sent me a 10% off voucher for any Genuine goodies. I bought the main stand as that's all I really wanted/afford at the time.
I've not fitted it yet, but I shall try to remember the tip about warming the rubber bungs. I did attempt to put the coins in the spring, but it took a lot of effort to bend the spring, with both hands, and then I was looking at the coins thinking this wasn't going well. Never mind, when the weather gets better I'll just have to get myself in the garage and see how it goes. |

Has anyone mounted a centre stand along with engine bars?
I have the engine bar lowers from Touratech for a bit of protection, especially for the water pump, and would like to add a centre stand also - just a bit unsure if they will happily co-exist. http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/i...230-0_I_01.JPG |
My Brother came up today and we've finally fitted my genuine centre stand. I forgot the tip about boiling water, but I had a tin of rubber lubricant, and with a long screwdriver, and two pairs of pliers and two pairs of hands we got that bit done.
We also used my cars tow bar, a looped strop with two shackles, to stretch the springs to get 2p's in... Very quickly we realised we also needed lots of duct tape to stop the coins falling back out each time we stretched it :evil6: We also had to take the rear brake pedal off completely to allow the use of a torque wrench... I also then found out I can only just get the thing up on the stand (using the very recently fitted Hepco and Becker pannier frames as a grab point), and then very nearly crushed my toes with the side stand getting it back off. |

I have the genuine yami one but have cut the rubber bung mount off that touchs the swing arm and.cut the other one.down by about 50% this gets the sidestand about 2 1/2 inchs higher than standard. Or roughly level with the pegs, perfect for.laning as it was like an achor when stock.
Best way i found to fit the springs is with a bunch of cable ties make 2 loops big enough too get your hand in then make a smaller hoop maybe 3" diameter through the first 2 loops so you have too loops joined. Slip the small loop over the spring end and use the big loop too pull the spring into place Easy peasy. |
