More Air Needed!!!!!

HI people, just started moding my 2004 660R made the kev mod and waiting on stage 1 an 2 filters i was just about to drill my airbox when i was thinking of my old bike a gsxr600 srad, the srad bit stands for suzuki ram air direct a way of raming air into the airbox via two scoops at the front of the bike, i was thinking of making some and trying them out on the xt! this meens the engine dose'nt have to drag the air in , its sat there waiting for it an the faster you go the more air you get!!! what do you guys think? if its a good idea am calling it the deg mod!!!! Not sure where you're going to put the tubes from the front but I do know exactly what you're suggesting, Ive just sold a zx7r and that has the same forced air system. Id be interested to know how you go on with this, keep us informed.:love-smiley-085:

Doesn't really work until you reach about 140mph, I've looked at lots of data from 4 seasons of racing and you only really see it work at tracks like Snetterton and Thruxton. You'd be better just making sure the air going into the airbox is cold and not heated as it passes the engine, that's another reason stage 2 filters work so well.

I agree with Simon, you need high road speed before the air box becomes pressurised over atmospheric pressure. The Ram air effect only comes into effect when the air box pressure is over 1000mbars at sea level. The XT does not have the top end to get the ram effect gains.

Unless of course and correct me if I am wrong someone designs a turbo for it.

That would do it. Already been done to the XT660.:love1:

I know that greek member did it, but can it be mass produced in an affordable way?

Not really.

The cheapest way is to fit a Stage 3 DNA air box, which makes sure the motor gets all the air in that it can.
