Just heard the news, the big end on my 2004 R is gone. luckily everything else survived, but I'm a bit curious as to why it went. Bike has just under 40 k km, serviced every 5-6000 km, never run too low on oil, then it starts sounding rougher than a cold diesel. Idle, power, fuel consumption, etc were all still fine, & rode another 300 km after I first noticed the noise, so pretty impressed that nothing else is ******ed.

Any ideas anyone?
