Me and bigB fitted some HID's to our tenere last week 4300k bulbs with slim balasts, also moded the airbox this evening its now been trimmed since this picture and i will be ordering a dna filter to go with my akro's.

i just used the rubber of a toilet pan connector its a perfect fit.

beany 28-09-09 22:48

yes mine is still in the shop,my right arm went so dead when i rode the ktm

martinbywater 01-10-09 13:14

ref hid and filter etc

I thought you needed to adjust the fuel mixture when changing the air inlet, and were the hid lights better, did you fit just the dip or both, martin

fozzy17 01-10-09 19:03

Well they recommend getting a power commander or the like but i think thats just cover themselves, bigb has been running his for a few weeks with a race filter and airbox mod, and has been taking the pug out evey few days to see if its running lean, but its fine, the lights are on main beam and they are superb, like chalk and cheese..fitted spots last night, well actually bigb did most of the work, i held a few things made tea and farted alot...

Nice job, Fozzy17!

Just to be clear: have you fitted HID to both dip AND main beam?

And are they 35w or 50w?

And are the spotlamps the Ring ones, supplied by Halfords?

Sorry to bombard you with questions!

I have fitted the fog lights on mine so it lights up around the front wheel side area, because when you go to main beam you have not light around that area, you are not far from me so we could meet up if you wanted to see for yourself

I have been thinking along similar lines: depending on HID dip and main lamps for main illumination, and having switchable fog lights on my GULG bracket, to provide a bit of fill-in lighting.

Mine is off to Bransons on Wednesday, to begin the (hopefully not too long) process of sorting out my failed reg/rect connector.

But when I get it back, it would be good to meet up for a natter and see how you've gone about thing, if that's OK?

No Problem, just give me a shout :hello:

They are the ones from halfords 39.99 with a included wiring kit, I bought a different switch, they are 35 watt ballasts abd 4300k bulbs and main beam only the spots are god for dip beam as they light up directly in front of you, the brackets are forsake by gasupandgo on here, I think that's his name anyway lol

theclowncrusty 02-10-09 16:47

Just got some Hella Micro DE fogs off E-bay. 63 delivered from Germany in four days!!! My fecking postie cant match that!!! Complete with all wiring, connectors and switch. Have got the Gas up and Go custom brackets to fit them onto. Going to get a HID50 dip beam setup to put on at the same time to make it worth taking the tank off, Fogs, HID, heated grips and hand guards all going on at the same time.... wish me luck!! Might do the KEV MOD as well as DNA filter and airbox mod all together, a busy weekend but a new bike by the end of it i think!!!!!!!!!!!!

watch yourself with wiring up heated grips and the like, go direct to battery, talking to my local yam mechanic and he reckons the modern looms have rubbish earths, so i went direct to the battery with mine, you can also run a relay then if you want it switched...

i had the loom changed on mine as it burned out at the reg/rec plug

GStry 03-10-09 16:57

Nice Job, looks great.

fozzy17 22-10-09 21:41

As i was fiddling with my reg/rec plug i thought i would pop the panel off and take a picture of the ballast fitement for the HID setup if anyone is struggling to fit the ballast, you can either use double sided tape (industial 3m automotive is best) or sticky backed velcro, which is the best bet as you just give it a yank if you have to remove the tank.

The silver foil again looks crude but keeps the heat away from ballast.

fozzy17 22-10-09 21:44

Also a picture of the akro cats after they have been removed.

They are the ones you get from yamaha, the yam ones have cats fitted the ones direct from akro do not have cats, you can tell straight away if they have cats as the have a bulge just below the silencer.
