After 20 kilometers: Big smile :thumbsup[1]:on my face. I notice a better gasresponse at higher revs. Smooth and stable driving under 3000 rpm. Overall worth the money. I only need to see what the modification does to the tires:toothy10: and fuelconsumption. But that will become clear this weekend in Germany after 3 days in the Westerwald. I will report after this weekend.

Good results after 1000 km (3-day) trip. Smooth rides when riding on or under the 3000 rev area. When pulling out of a hairpin more power and more eager to get to higher speeds. Much better response in the hairpin (less need to change gear). The bike is getting faster to higher speeds than previously. Fuel consumption is at 22,5 km on 1 ltr. Not much change there. On the 4000 revs (change from closed loop to open loop) there is still a little stutter. So i'm not sure what exactly the O2 controller does. Must see when riding when disconnected. On the whole I'm pretty happy.

Ordered O2+Fuel Mod for my :tenere:
Wait 2 to 3 weeks, fit everything, test and after that I will post my personal opinion here :glasses10:

Fuel Mod

Hi all,

I have fitted Kev's fuel mod this weekend and found it makes a huge improvement on low down grunt and general driveability.
The bike is 2010 5K on clock twin Akra's and K&N filter, but felt that it was restricted and lacked the oomph a big single should have.
Easy to fit and setup, if you're in any doubt, its well worth doing.

Thanks Kev.

Kev 23-06-14 09:48

Thanks for all the feed back guys, I will keep making the mods as long as there is a demand for them.:wav:

Here it is mine fitted to a 24.000Km 2010 Tnr with foam air filter and Leo Vince exhausts.

Haven't done much testing with diferent values but liked the results with 4o'clock position :109:

greetings from greece .
i just installed O2 controller , kevs mod and DNA stage 2 filter on my ten . instalation was easy , just followed the instructions , put kevs mod at 5 ( with stock exhaust ) and went for a test ride .

man ... that a huge improvement !!!

thanks Kev :smilies0942:

Kev 10-08-14 01:30

Thanks for the feedback guys.

wigo 13-09-14 18:55

thanks Kev

spectacular results with stage1, 2 ,the O2 controller and the kev mod at 5 to make it all work!
:WellDone_OROQR1:
and it works :)
I was hoping for this result , because the stock bike was a big dissapointment, I thought about selling it because it was lazy, dull and slow. All this changed, and I am happy with it now.

If I can sort the buffeting with the givi spoiler i ordered , than this is going to be my all time favorite bike... :eusa_liar:

well maybe if I upgrade the suspension... :no[1]:

cheers,
Wigo

Thanks for your feedback mate.

Hi Kev,
I'd an issue two weekends ago with the bike where it started to run rough and conk out. Both times it happened when high (in relative terms, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek).

Managed to get it started, keep it running and limped into hotham. Problem cleared as started to head down to Bright. I thought it might have been dirty fuel as had only recently topped up the tank.

Next day same thing happened on getting in to Falls Creek. Got bike towed and brought to nearest Yamaha dealer . Its been with them since and they can find no issues.

Could bike be running too rich when at height due to fuel mod?

Thanks, apologies if a dumb question or has been covered before.

Kev 06-11-14 10:02

How dirty is the air filter, what is the fuel mod set to?

Burnsy 06-11-14 21:43

Filter didn't look dirty, mod set around 5.

Kev 07-11-14 07:14

What happens with the mod turned off or set to 2pm.

The reason I am asking about the filter is there has been a few guys over the years even with Power Commanders complaining of the same thing & the problem ended up being a party blocked filter because they had done quite a bit of dusty riding conditions.

Burnsy 08-11-14 22:01

Picked bike up yesterday and had fuel and O2 mod removed. Bike was fine but died again after an hour. Wasn't up high this time. Only similarity was it was over 30degrees. Got it towed to home this time. Thankfully I've full care with RACV.

Kev 09-11-14 08:58

Get some fresh fuel & a new plug in for starters.

Lennovich 09-10-15 21:39

Installed the kevmod with a set of mtc's and a stage 2 dna filter. The bike comes alive now :048:
But still have that hard pops from my exhaust when i close the throttle. First i thought that the pops were from running to lean. But with the fuel mod on 6 or 7 it's still the same. Can someone explain this.
Personally i don't care about it , but sometimes i get a lot of angry faces , specially when i'm riding offroad.

The popping in the exhaust is nothing to do with the fuelling. It is the Air Induction System (AIS) operating which bleeds air into the exhaust ports downstream of the exhaust valves to help ignite any unburned fuel. The AIS valve opens and closes according to certain parameters (suddenly closed throttle, cold starting etc.) and is controlled by the ECU. It is purely an emission control device and doesn't affect the fuelling.

Some like it, some don't. The popping and banging can be stopped by either blocking the pipe that feeds the air from the airbox to the AIS valve under the tank, or by completely removing the valve and all it's plumbing along with sealing the hole in the airbox and fitting a blanking plate between the exhaust ports.

Read this thread.

Intalled the fuel mod today as well as DNA filter and cover, and kev O2 controller mod.

A few notes about the install:

- the O2 sensor is a bit "hidden" as it is plugged (into the air box?) right at the front of the seat/under tank, near where it is shown in Kev installation document). you have to pull it out

- May be only on my bike but the wiring to the 02 sensor was way to short to manipulate it, so i started to remove the tank, but realized you can reroute the wiring and then it's ok without moving the tank.

Then a quick ride (50 km city/back roads/highway):
- The O2 controller really works. Much less "jerking" at low rpm/low throttle opening, i noticed it immediately when taking off ! Much much much better in the city traffic. I guess it will help with slow offroad too. Still not 100% perfect but i had to try hard to get "jerking" again. 95% solved (and I have yet to change my chain/sprockets which need it)

- You hear the DNA filter difference. More "roaring" :p

- A bit smoother engine below 3k rpm

- It's hard to tell honestly about performance, the sportier sound may fool me, it seems that the bike takes its rev faster, and gets with more ease to the limiter. At the end of my ride, I was like "hey it looks like the throttle can be opened a bit more than before". I don't think I will win 1sec on a 0-100kph acceleration test, but I felt a real difference above 4k rpm

Hard to tell (again) as i fitted everything and did not test one mod after the other, but i'd say the O2 controller really is a must have. The bike should behave like that stock. Great job Kev.
Filter mods and fuel mod are nice if you have money to spend on them.

Now question.. :unibrow: i set the fuel mod somewhere between 4 and 5 as told in the manual. How do i know if i'm running the engine too lean or too rich, other than looking at the plug? Can it be felt/noticed when riding?

Kev 09-11-15 10:43

Nice write up.

All my mods have been Dyno tested all A/F ratio's have been confirmed on the Dyno under load, I know 98% where the Adjustable fuel mods needs to be for what mod, the other 2% is the variance between different motors, if you follow my guide lines your motor will be safe. We have not had one burn valve or damaged motor in the 10 years that I have been making these mods.

Well written pepsi, nice and informative , and pleased your happy with results. But I will say you will always be looking for more mods and things too buy its so addictive..

f. Top gear, roll ons, where also pretty lively in comparison to stock breathing and pipes..........so long as the bike was over 3750 ish rpm. Anything below didn’t appear to deliver anything differently.

You will notice improvements to (c) and (f) with one of Kev's O2 Controllers installed.

Kev 25-01-16 09:32

Thanks for your feedback pepsi, as mentioned correcting the closed loop A/F ratio with my O2 controller will improve your ride even further especially in the lower RPM's, with no O2 controller the closed loop will lean out the areas the fuel mod added when on the cruise, when riding in the open loop the fuel mod will not be corrected by the O2 sensor.

I have replied to your PM.

15000 miles on a 7 year old bike, congrats on doing feck all mileage [emoji107]

Is there a reason why we should cut the blue/black wire and not the brown?

frdabk 22-08-19 16:36

Wow

First of all...WOW! THANKS KEV <3

My Tn = Hardcore level (now)

After some time, i finally had some time to mount everything on my bike. (vacations are cool)

It's a 30m job...had zero problems.

So, for those who may have questions regarding this mod (FUEL MOD + O2 + DNA Stage 1,2 & 3...

DONT! you will have a new bike after a 30m work...

Thanks again KEV...really <3

Oh...i'm from Portugal... i tested the mod for like 1 week now at 23-35 (celsius)

I find that the fuel mod knob works better at 6 o'clock position but i will continue testing for sure.

For now, juts another happy rider!

PEACE!
