Petrol distance
What do you guys get KM wise on your XT tank, i find i am getting about 220km that is easy riding no hectic stuff, does this sound ok, no mods at all big standard bike?
|
The kilos/litre will differ.
<O:p</O:p My Xt with a good powercommander map was giving me around 230 to 250km's until the reserve light came on. I was able to go to 280 and even 300 before the tank would be dry. Averaging about 21km/l. <O:p</O:p I since then I increased the fuel delivery on my fuel map and now I get around 200 to 210 before the reserve light comes on. I think I will go back to the older map soon as there is no real benefit to run the map I have now. <O:p</O:p I also run a 16 front sprocket and ride in traffic. Speed ranges between a crawl up to around 100km/h for short distances. <O:p</O:p<O:p On the open road, sticking to around 100km/h, I use to get up to 25km/l if I took it easy. Crank it open and the average seems to be around 19 to 21km/l. <O:p</O:p Jons Tenere is also giving him around the 18 to 19 km/l right now, and thats with a rich map, We leaned his fuel map out a bit also, so I think he will be getting around the 20 to 22km/l soon. Also traffic riding. His Tenere should also run around the 25km/l if he takes it easy. He still runs stock sprockets. |
getting about 220 untill light comes on if i drive it like it's mine...when i drive it like it is stolen...then i get 190km then light comes on.
Have pushed the tank to 309km,,,then i had to push it to the closest garage cause it died...luckily it was 200m away. GB |
I filled my tank up today.340KM without the reserve coming on.(5L reserve)Put in 17 l so that gave me 20km/l.Your map is definately making a diff. Freeze.I also did some long distance and averaging about 140 km/hr. so I can definately better on the fuel consumption. Will be looking at a one tooth up front sprocket.

How do you get 17 liters in that tank if it is only a 15liter tank?
|
Sorry !!Tenere 660 has a 23l tank.:002:

Yes, rub it in Jon!!!!!....lol.
Man, thats the one thing I would change on the XTR. A bigger fuel tank. <O:p This week for some reason I had to do a few trips between JHB and PTA and I managed to do a lot of travelling on the highway instead of the back roads I normally use. This allowed me to do constant speeds instead of the stopping at all the traffic lights and intersections. <O:p I clocked up just over 22km/l, doing 260km's on 11.8 litres of fuel.<O:p |
howzit guys long time no chat :)
I have a 2006 XTR with 55000 km on the clock. Just an interesting point I picked up, I ride quite aggressivly and I get about 200 - 210 km before the reserve light comes on when I use 95 octane petrol, when I use 93 octane I get between 230 and 240 km on the same amount of fuel. quite interesting hey. |
Hallo julle, mine is the same as Gerhard's 220/230 km then my light goes on, haven't run it till it's dry yet!

Hey BB King, how about some pics on that trip you did not so long ago!!!!

how much km are the tenere guys getting? 450?

Hmmm, just my .02 cents worth.
I'm a big guy on a stock 08 XTR that has Remus pipes and I'm consistently getting slightly over 21kms per litre - approx 60mpg or 4.7l per 100kms. So a m-a-x-i-m-u-m tank range of 320kms until running on fumes. Doesn't seem to vary too much but then maximum speed limits around here are around 100kph (~60mph) so we don't see much 120+kph stuff :laughing11: I'm planning to lower the gearing slightly by going to a 48t rear sprocket and am considering installing a DNA stage 1 filter together with a Power Commander V along with a custom map and possibly a map change over switch to optimise highway cruising / off road options. It will be interesting to see what happens to overall fuel consumption after those changes. |

I personal found a 47T tooth to be the best for me and am considering installing a DNA stage 1 filter I would go straight for the stage 2 filter far better gains in HP then a stage 1 filter, if you have the money fit both the stage 1 & 2 filters you won't be sorry together with a Power Commander V along with a custom map and possibly a map change over switch to optimise highway cruising / off road options. It will be interesting to see what happens to overall fuel consumption after those changes. I had mine on the dyno last week with a stage 3 air box 53HP at the rear wheel with a custom fuel map made & am getting 20 kms/L in traffic. |
