BankHol Northumberland run
Met up at 10am, do a few easy trails to start off, then head over the moors.
The sun's out and everyone is cookin, so stop on the top of the hill for a cool down. PeatBog and me mate marshy on his Dejerbl. http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...052009077s.jpg 2250 feet up, according to the BogTek GPS. http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...052009078s.jpg Give the next one a miss, bad move as it turns out. To get back on the route I head off down a short trail, which proves a bit too steep for the tens high gearing. Feathering the front brake I'm suddenly thinking the grass is a bit close to me face. Only lost the frontend, bent brake pedal, popped the indicator out, and later notice the bars are out of line, handguards save the lever. Do a few more easy ones then tackle a snotty, rocky descent, Peatbog and Marshy on the way down. http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...052009079s.jpg http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...052009080s.jpg http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...052009081s.jpg Was hard work getting to the end, I had to stop halfway down for a breather, was cookin and didn't help when the fan kicked in and blew even hotter air in me face. Have a long stop to cool off, do a few more trails to get north of the tyne, before a blast through the forest, and end the day on a trail up by Ogle. http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...052009082s.jpg 10 hours, 14 trails, 1 off, 43 tabs, 2/(3?) bornt heeds, 27 million sheep, 67 coos, 1 bull and a deer. Crackin day out, good company, too much sun, and hats off to Pete who tackled some tricky trails. |

Great pictures and report.
Those lane's look really inviting. Shame they are not alittle closer to the North West. |
nice photos very jealous now that my mates getting a road bike so we will not be able to hit the trials when im up round your direction on my trip
|
I had a cracking day - thanks again Pete(skunk) for having me along. Thought i'd be aching all over but i'm fine today, roll on the next one - but i bet the weather wont be as good next time.
Gary - some of those lanes were in the N.West - just outside Alston (cumbria for those who don't know). you've no excuse not to come along next time now :) Yamtenere - there will be other times i'm sure, the next time out is provisionally planned for around our way! |

Next one will be round Morpeth/Wooler, though this will be more of a navigation exercise for me, not an area I know with just me heed. Lots of river crossings round that way so will plan it for sunshine. http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...04picture4.jpg Just keep the speed doon.... http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...lanecamera.jpg |
What the fush!! A speed camera on a road with grass growing up the middle. Ive seen it all now:notworthy:, hahah if i left him in the pub hed need a pillar to hold himself up with:happy: which is normally me
