Help with my new carbon cans!!!!!

Ok so i have just had my ccc full lenght ss ovals and im a little puzzeled

First, dose anyone know where to buy or what clamp to use to attach the new link pipe to the old exhaust pipe (down under the footpegs) as the old ones is welded on to the old exhausts, i managed to get it off but it is too big to clamp the new link pipe????

second, i have 3 brackets that are the same size and one that is much much bigger, i think this is just a mix up at ccc, will have to ask them 2moro

also i can't seem to get the exhausts to sit stright do you have to bend and shape the brackets that come with the exhausts???

HELP IS NEEDED

Many thanks

I used stainless jubilees from Halfords for the link pipes.

The brackets should all be the same size.

Yes you have to bend (carefully) the brackets so the attachment is vertical from the exhaust close to the hanger (i.e. offset inboard).

P.S. Don't forget to re-use the spacers from your existing cans.

Spacers????

Cheers will go to hallfords 2moro

The spacers fit between the mounting points on the frame and the lugs on the brackets to space the exhausts away from the bike. If you don't fit them the exhaust will foul the tyre when the suspension is in compression. They should be there on the existing exhausts. Some people have made thicker-walled spacers because the existing ones can allow vibration which may lead to bracket failure. One ex-member of the site had several sets of brackets because he did not ensure they were properly fitted - fit the exhausts loosely and adjust the pipe run correctly then tighten the link pipe connectors (jubilees) and the pipe into silencer box lastly tighten the brackets which hold the box itself.

This method has worked successfully for a set of CCC carbon longs on one of my bikes and the CCC carbon stubbies on the other bike. I did not use thicker-walled spacers.

This picture may help, you should see the spacer between the clamp and frame.

I got a new set of spacers with the cans, but i have noticed i put them in a different place, inbetween the two tops of the brackets, this is because i couldn't actually get em round the can ={

will have to have another go

I had lots of problems getting my oval cans lined up correctly.

On the right hand side I have bracket/spacer/bracket/frame
on the left bracket/bracket/spacer/frame

Hope that makes sense

I think the right side is correct.

It took so long that I really can't be bothered to take it all apart again.

The ovels are a bit of a bu**er to line up and you should have got clamps for the link pipes but you will strugle to seal them! Mine still blow!

Try a thin smear of silicon bathroom or window sealer around the joints before you slide them together, works a treat and does not set hard.
Also retighten the clamps after a week or so.

My full length carbon ovals have been on for around a month and I've noticed they are changing sound.
When they were first on they popped and banged like crazy. After a few days I removed the clamps, coated the threads with copaslip and tightened them. The excessive popping was gone, but they had a harsh metallic rasping sound.

Now they are bedding in and the wadding inside is compressing, they sound a lot more bassy and mellow, with a fantastic bark when the taps are cracked open. On the overrun they pop and fart with the occasional loud backfire. Sometimes I get a squelchy pop when changing up a gear which I love doing in traffic. :rockwoot:

I was sat next to a Ducati ST4 with stainless Remus pipes yesterday and both bikes sounded very similar.

By the way, don't fit louder cans so that cars will notice you, the b*stards still don't see you. They may hear you coming, but they don't bother to look for you. I had 3 pull out in front of me one day this week, my commute is only around 5 miles.
