Good Touring Tyre For The Xt660x 2004

HELP PLEASE I'm looking for a good milage tyre good grip wet and dry. This is the first time I have gone for a touring type tyre and have not got a clue what is best for the xt660x. I keep getting told that touring tyres are to hard (ie BT-021)for my bike so what should I go for. My riding style is sensible and alot of upright riding and I do alot of motorway miles too. I had pirellis but they squared off in the middle.I would like a harder wearing tyre in the middle. I have had a look at all the treads but am still unsure.

All help welcome

Thanks Mick:jerk:

What sort of mileage are you looking to get?????

I got 3k out of a pirelli diablo.

Looks like I will squeeze about 4.5k out of a Distanza.

I will lookforward to some other repies....

Not sure, The Distanza's grip well enough, mine is on the blocks in the centre and squared off a bit but my commute is a bit to straight.

The main problem with tyres is they are a personel thing, different people find confidence in different things and then swear by them. Also some tyres suit different bike and riding styles differently.

Thats why I asked what mileage you were looking for.

I have tried several sets of "Sports tourer" on the fazer 6 I had and to be honest the difference was minimal both is how they gripped and how long they lasted. I used the old BT20's and found they were ok when new but followed over banding and white lines like mad when worn. But that may be different on the XT.

Not easy

Have a look at Dunlop Roadsmart.

I put them on my X and felt they were a very good tyre, streets ahead of the OEM Pirelli's.

They are dual compound, I did about 1500 miles on them before I sold the bike and the rear looked like new, nice round profile.

One of the bike mags did a test sometime last year and they came out top, beating the Michelin dual compound tyre.

I have really only run one type of rear tyre on my XTX's for the past 4 years. I am on my 5 rear, a Pirelli Diablo Strada, I get 6K + miles guarantied, duel compound great in the wet & long lasting, warms up quickly.

I run a Pirelli Super Corsa on the front, best tyre combination for my bike.

What do other riders say about the Strada's
